Hi There Folks,

New guy here, new to trials, but got a fair amount of experience on bikes.
Most of my dirt riding experience is XC, Enduro and Trail riding.

I was recently having a few cocktails while searching used bikes to chase my 6 year old around the yard on his PW50 and....

Now I have a very clean 1986 Yamaha  TY 350 in my garage!

Now I’m looking for some events, training and places to ride. I’m west of Boston, MA.

So would love to know if anyone is out my way doing some trials? Also, would like to try a comp or two this summer for the heck of it. Does not look like there is a class for vintage monos, but I don’t think my bike will be the limiting factor😜

Great to hear your joining our sport, Woody!

t's a great way to improve your riding skill on all sorts of bikes. We usually have our first event in Waltham, MA which would be the closest to you but the pandemic has everything on hold. We do have a fun event in Meriden, CT on May 16th followed by an event in Brimfield, MA on June 13th which we hope will be a regular event. I hope you can attend one and see how much fun they are. The comradery is the best part of this sport! I'll be looking for your TY350.  Mike

@mike

Thank you for the reply.

I’m interested in the May 16 fun event  in CT. Please point me to details. Do you get many young kids? My boy is 6 and just getting going on his PW50.

Man Waltham is just up the road from me! If that event goes down this season, no excuses not to make it!

Here’s their website with the address on it. Most people show up by 9 am for an 11:00 start. Gives you time to ride the loop and look at the sections (no pre-riding the sections allowed). Sometimes clubs will have small sections set up by the parking area for younger riders to try out their skills. We do have a few younger riders that compete. Helmets are required for riding.

If you go to the "Documents" section on our home page, you can read about what to expect when attending an event.

@stevec
This was the event I was thinking of which is on the forum for events in 2021

The Meriden Motorcycle Club will be hosting a fun trial May 16th.

@mike Thanks for the prompt. We're getting going on some of the details. Chris A. is the trials master and has started thinking about the loop, the sections, and the design of the trial. Since it is a fun trial we have some options still under consideration about the rules, whether it is a gate trial, how the scoring works etc. Either way if it is anything like the 2 fun events last year it is going to be a complete blast and a great warmup for the upcoming NETA season opener in Brimfield.

More details will be shared in this thread as they develop: https://dev.newenglandtrials.com/forums/upcoming-events/may-16-2021-meriden-motorcycle-club-fun-event-details-to-follow/

@fprintf   I predict you'll get a good turn-out! We're all waiting to get back out into those sections and have fun.
